THE SUPERIOR TRAIL RETREAT

AUGUST 6 - 9 2020

The Training Grounds

The Superior Hiking Trail, also known as the SHT, is a 310 mile hiking trail. The SHT is located in Northeastern Minnesota, which follows the ridgeline overlooking the great Lake Superior. Runners enjoy some of the gnarliest single track in the Northern Hemisphere.   Come train on the proving grounds that are the Superior 100 race course.

The Coaches

Jake and Mike have many wins on the SHT.   With a combined 13 first place finishes, they have mastered the trail. Our Business Manager also has the Supported FKT!  Guided trail runs each day will be lessons in themselves.  There is sure to be some comic relief mixed in with stories of personal humiliation and the hallucinations that come racing countless miles on one of the most technical trails in the world.

The Lodging

The North Shore of Lake Superior has some of the best lodging options available.  All lodging and accommodations are included with registration. Carpooling is also provided. There will be groups leaving from the Twin Cities, La Crosse, and Duluth.

WHAT FITNESS LEVEL SHOULD

I BE AT PRIOR TO CAMP?

All runners are welcome. We have staff that can offer on-trail guidance and navigation to all abilities. As a general recommendation to ensure you get the most out of camp, and can experience all the trails and views, weekly mileage prior to camp should be a minimum of 35.

HOW FAR AND HOW HARD WILL BE RUNNING?

WHAT GEAR SHOULD I BRING? WHAT GEAR WILL BE PROVIDED FOR ME?

This is dependent on your current fitness level and ability to run technical trail. We will be covering between 20 to 40 miles of technical trail running in our 4 days together.   Pace will be self-selected and every runner will have an experienced guide with them.

HOW IS TRANSPORTATION HANDLED? DO I NEED TO RENT A CAR?

I HAVE SPECIFIC FOOD ALLERGIES/DIETARY RESTRICTIONS, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

High-quality trail running shoes are a must. You will need to bring a hydration system: water packs/vests and water bottles. Weather on the North Shore can be variable so bring a light rain jacket and warm clothes.   We will also provide on-trail first aid, nutrition snacks, gels, energy chews, and various hydration choices.  Pack as though you are headed for a weekend away.  We will send out a recommended gear check list before the retreat.

Carpooling to the lodge is provided. There will be groups leaving from the Twin Cities, La Crosse, and Duluth.  Once you get yourself to one of those locations, we will take care of the rest.   If you'd like to drive separately,  ample parking is provided.
